Adventures in Letterpress Printing/You can buy me on Etsy

Um, how terrible am I at blogging in a timely manner? Remember how, 11 months ago, I promised that I would write a blog post about the amazing Christmas present that Bryce got me? Well…psych! It’s been almost a whole year and I never wrote that post.

So I’ll just tell you guys. Bryce got me a printing press. A real-deal spiffed-up antique Baltimore tabletop letterpress. (It’s like a tiny version of the press from this post.) AND he got me a whole set of type and ink and everything you need to print things.

In other news, Bryce is the most perfect boyfriend ever and no, you can’t have him.

Anyway, I recently started making real things with my letterpress (before I was just printing gibberish and swear words, because I am ten years old) and since I know I’m not the only person who loves letterpress stuff, I put my stuff on Etsy!

The difference between everyone else’s letterpress stuff and mine is that my letterpress stuff has what I think of as an irreverent je ne sais quoi, and what other people might think of as immaturity. Tomato, tomahto.

Anyway, go read my amusing copy, and admire my stuff, and maybe buy my stuff? Yeah?

In which I direct your attention to a new project of mine

Am I the worst at blogging? I am the worst at blogging. We are now more than halfway through May and the last time I wrote a post was in March.

I’m not sure how this happened, given that I come up with ideas and content for new blog posts all the time—I just never get around to it—and here I am, finally updating, when I am tired and my eyes are tired and I have no idea how I got here without messing up along the way.

So, although I don’t feel like I’m in any shape to present anything, may I present to you my latest project!

That’s right, Bryce and I thought we’d try our hand at joint travel-blogging, what with all the getaways we’ve already had and the trips we’re going to have in the future. And we’ve both decided to make an effort to keep it up (meaning, no long hiatuses à la Doodlyroses).

You can find recaps of our trips and handy lists of tips, suggestions, and ideas for your own travels at, and follow us on Twitter as well.

I’m not abandoning this blog by any means, so keep following me here and I promise I’ll make more than a slightly halfhearted attempt to keep updating.

Also, I’m cleaning out my closet and I’m in the process of adding things to my blog sale. Stay tuned!

I’m in the news! (Canadian news!)

So…hey guys! You know that time I totally talked a reporter’s ear off? Well somehow that turned into an article about Equality Within Reach!

I’m pretty psyched that site is getting more publicity (particularly cause I’m lazy and I want to spend my energy practicing, working on that album I said was totally going to come out this summer, and reading every article on Cracked). I’m also loving (and by loving, I mean my soul is 20% sad) the situational irony that the first time I’m appearing in any sort of news, it has to do with something not related to piano in any way.

But still! My project is being covered by Canadian media, and it’s so controversial that I can’t even bear to read the stupid comments! WHOOHOO!

(Seriously though, in fifty or a hundred or two hundred years our descendants* are going to look back on these years as being very un-egalitarian and that makes me ashamed! The prevalence of racism and homophobia, as well as the insidiousness of anti-woman ideas in our society, make me very sad indeed. It’s 2012, shouldn’t we be making rocket ships to take us to our intergalactic colonies, instead of squabbling over whether people should be respected?)

Ahem. Anyway, read the article; I suppose it’s some sort of life accomplishment? Do I get to level up now?

*That is, if global warming hasn’t wiped out the human race.
